After releasing Cactus Roots, it wasn’t long until Daniel Harper was back at it writing heartfelt songs in the middle of the Texas desert. He views music as a “natural remedy for [his] emotions,” and this authenticity is evident in his new album, Trial Meets Error. We brought his vision for the jacket artwork to life—and set the tone for the listener—with a unique, hand-carved block print illustration of a nighttime scene at a desolate crossroads in the desert.

Here is a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the carved blocks before the prints were pulled. The design was enlarged for carving to capture all the details and tiny letters.
